Tragedy strikes a Mesa family2-year-old boy killed in car accident while visiting family in Mexico The Vega Ramos family had been planning their trip to Mexico for months. Esperanza Ramos finally obtained her legal residency papers, so the family decided to leave Memorial Day weekend. Esperanza hadn't seen her mother in five years and she was now able to travel freely back to Mexico. They packed up their truck with six of their eight children. Gustavo Vega was driving down a dangerous stretch of road in Hermosillo, Mexico when he said he heard a thump and then lost control of the wheel. "The car started flipping over," he said. "I felt like I was in a ferris wheel until it finally stopped." The truck ended up on its side. Gustavo said his children were spread out all over the place. Aldo was taken to the hospital but couldn't be saved. "I felt sad," said his 10-year-old brother Carlos. "I was crying. I was crying for my little brother." Two other sons remain hospitalized in critical condition in Mexico. One of them is 3-years-old and is in a coma. Two others suffered minor injuries. But the family is still seeing a miracle among the tragedy. One-year-old Belinda got out without a scratch. Her older brother Abdon said she had a guardian angel with her. Esperanza lost a child but has another on the way. She's five-months pregnant and the baby inside her is okay. The family said there were eight children before, and they have faith there will soon be eight again. If you would like to help the family, they have set up an account at Bank of America under the family name Vega Ramos. |
